Following the success of Tyldesley Music Festival last year, the event will return with 20 acts spread across 11 town centre venues.

Wigan Council helped to support last year’s festival with an allocation of funding, and it created an electric atmosphere up and down Elliott Street as residents enjoyed the sounds of a varied mix of music and genres.

Although no extra funding was allocated this year, the Elliott Street venues have organised and funded the festival themselves to ensure the tradition continues, and have agreed to use donations to fund the MIND mental health charity.

The venues that will be hosting live acts on Sunday, May 5, includes The Markland, Cellar Five, Hop and Hazlewood, Grape and Graze, Elliotts, The Railway, Union Arms, Roots and Chalice, Half Moon Inn, The Lounge Bar, and Tilwalds.

Ian Tomlinson, one of the leaders at the For Tyldesley community group who has helped to set up the festival, said: “We are doing things a little different this year.

“The music festival is of course still free, we do just ask if you can donate anything that would be amazing.

“The donations (all 100% of the proceeds) are going to MIND the mental health charity.

“We have set up a donation page. Just give whatever you can.

“We can’t wait to see you down here.”
