LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) — Mid West Music Fest returns to downtown this weekend. Musicians from across the country will perform, including those native to the Coulee Region.
This weekend’s venues include the Root Note, the Pump House, the Weber Center, the Main and the Grand Ballroom. Some of the big names you might recognize include Charlie Parr, Per Near Sandstone and Greg Hall and the Wrecking Ball.
But there are also many local musicians performing, including Knee High July, for their second year.
“We bring a sense of fun and community since a lot of folks around town know us since we’re locals,” Carter Wiedenhoeft said. “Everyone knows our shows are all about fun and we hope to see a lot of people dancing out there and smiling, laughing along with us.”
Another local musician is Sana Illahe who is originally from Pakistan. Illahe is a singer who accompanies herself using a Harmonium.
“These songs, most of them are passed on from generations to generations,” Illahe said.
Co-chair of MWMF Jacqueline Marcou, like Illahe, encourages people to step outside of their comfort zone this weekend.
“You might know some of the headliners, but it’s one of those fests where you have to take a chance and wonder into a venue and you might find your new favorite band.”
