The highly anticipated Afro Nation Music Festival, originally scheduled to be held in Nigeria during December 2023, has been canceled. This decision comes as a disappointment to fans and music enthusiasts who had eagerly anticipated the event since its announcement earlier this year.

The Afro Nation Festival is known for its celebration of African music and culture, drawing music lovers from across the globe. Tickets for the event were already being sold at a substantial cost, with prices exceeding N100,000.

In a recent statement issued by the event organizers, they expressed their deep regret for the cancellation, emphasizing their commitment to delivering a high-quality experience for festival-goers. The statement reads:

Unfortunately, the Afro Nation Nigeria festival in Lagos will now not be taking place. As event organizers, we hold ourselves to extremely high standards, and it has become clear to us that it is currently not possible to deliver a show that is of the quality that Nigeria deserves in December 2023.

The festival organizers also conveyed their gratitude to the Afrobeats community for their support and commitment. They have played a vital role in providing a platform for artists to connect with fans and create events that positively impact the culture on a global scale. Afro Nation has previously hosted successful shows in Portugal, Ghana, Puerto Rico, Miami, and Detroit. Nigeria, however, holds a special place in their hearts, making the cancellation especially heart-wrenching.

The statement continues, “Please know, we are 108% committed to creating an Afro Nation show in Lagos that we can all be proud of. We know that you are as disappointed as we are, and to all those who have purchased tickets, we love you and thank you for supporting us on this journey.

For ticket holders, the organizers assured that all tickets, including booking fees, will be refunded. Ticket buyers will receive an email with detailed information about the refund process.

Despite the disappointment, the statement concludes on a positive note, assuring fans, “We will see you again soon.
