NEW ORLEANS — This month, New Orleans & Company and WWOZ are launching an online compendium of New Orleans musicians called, simply enough, the “Musician Database.”
“It is an honor to offer this level of support to those who provide the soundtrack for our city, and it is our mission to grow this database to include artists and culture bearers from more genres,” said Walt Leger III, president and CEO of New Orleans & Company, in a press release.
For years, New Orleans & Company — the city’s destination marketing organization — has partnered with WWOZ to share its Livewire calendar’s music listings with millions of NewOrleans.com visitors. The Musician Database adds images, bios, Spotify playlists, performance schedules and more to the equation.
“Here at WWOZ we’re very excited about this next phase in our ongoing partnership with New Orleans & Company. This database is yet another innovative way that we’re able to bring New Orleans musicians to the city and the world,” said WWOZ’s General Manager Beth Arroyo Utterback.
“This database brings attention to musicians such as me and my family,” said James Andrews, vocalist, songwriter and trumpeter.
