Kolkata: In a horrific incident, a youth was allegedly killed over playing of music during a Jagadharthi Puja immersion procession in Kolkata. According to information, a man allegedly attacked the youth with a pair of scissors during a fight over playing of music at the procession. The incident took place in the eastern part of Chingrighata area in Kolkata, reported PTI.
Youth killed over playing of music
The incident occurred late on Saturday night when the accused stabbed the youth named Saheb Ali Sardar, aged 22 years, in his neck with a pair of scissors. Upon receiving information, the police rushed to the spot.
“We have arrested the accused and an investigation is on. The murder weapon has been seized,” said a senior officer of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate.
What police said
A local MLA and West Bengal Fire Services Minister Sujit Bose reached the spot and calmed down the protestors. As per information, the mob also threw bricks at the police team when they were rescuing the accused.
“The locals hurled stones at our colleagues who went there to pacify them and bring the situation under control and in the process a few of them were injured. A huge police force is deployed in the area,” said Gaurav Sharna.
