DYESS, Ark. (KAIT) – Locals and out-of-towners “Walked the Line” down to Dyess for some country music fun before the eclipse.

The sun came out to play as several gathered for the Arkansas Roots Musical Festival at the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home on Saturday, April 6. The musical festival is part of the weekend-long 2024 Solar Eclipse Festival.

One woman said she didn’t want to miss out on the fun, so she called into work. Manila Resident Felicia Ashabranner said she tried taking off, but her job would not let her.

“I decided to just call into work today because it meant so much for me to come here,” Ashabranner said. “It is something I think is once in a lifetime.”

Nightwing, Posey Hill, Marty Ray Project, and Rockin’ Jason D. Williams took the stage on Saturday afternoon.

An Eclipse Lunch and Learn with NASA Scientist Dr. Les Johnson will be held on Sunday, April 7 at noon at the JCBH.
