Those looking to help refugees need look no further than the WelcomeNST Gala

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – (November 21, 2023) One tragic incident after another around the world creates a rippling impact that can be felt from all corners of America. Many refugees are turning to America to find freedom and safety. One humanitarian non-profit organization, WelcomeNST, is on a mission to unleash the power of community to offer refuge to refugees by forming Neighborhood Support Teams (NSTs) that welcome refugee families to the U.S. and provide housing, financial and other support as they restart their lives.

In Boston, WelcomeNST is currently engaging communities to resettle over 20 Haitian families to date that have landed here without housing or support. To raise funds to expand their efforts, they will host the WelcomeNST Gala in Boston on December 5, 2023, from 6-9 pm. Everyone who would like to support the cause is invited to attend the gala or make a donation.

“Crises on multiple fronts around the world are overwhelming and it’s easy to feel like there’s nothing you can do, explains Elizabeth Davis-Edwards, founder of WelcomeNST. “WelcomeNST is all about making the global refugee crisis local by connecting one refugee family with one community at a time. When groups of citizens come together to help a family in need, they change the lives of refugees as well as the lives of their neighbors. When this happens, everyone wins.”

The WelcomeNST Gala will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 6-9 pm at The Tower at 101 Arlington St in Boston. We are honored to be joined by Monique Tú Nguyen, Executive Director for the Mayor Wu’s Office of Immigrant Advancement. She will be joined by Dr. Katrina Lantos Swett who serves as the president of the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice and teaches human rights and American foreign policy at Tufts University. Emily Shackleton will be the special musical guest. She is an award-winning songwriter and singer with several songs featured on television shows.

Tickets for the WelcomeNST gala are $10,000 per table or $1,250 a seat. The funds raised will support the organization’s mission. WelcomeNST is currently helping refugees from Ukraine, Venezuela, Haiti, Nicaragua, Cuba, and more. The unforgettable evening of music and fantastic food will leave donors feeling inspired for supporting this vital cause.

“Thanks to a generous private donor, the costs of the event have been covered, so every dollar we raise will enable us to form more NSTs who will offer refuge to more refugees through 2024.” added Davis-Edwards.

WelcomeNST’s innovative approach relies on the power of communities. This unique approach puts the keys to the American Dream in the hands of Americans, and opens our doors for more people to pave the way to a brighter future for all.
