During a recent appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show, the singer and songwriter shared an update on the health scare that left her hospitalized earlier this year

It’s back to business for Tori Kelly following a recent health emergency that left her hospitalized in July. During a recent appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show, the singer and songwriter detailed her recovery process, which has allowed her to reach a point where she’s feeling healthier and has a manageable grasp on her condition.

“That was definitely a scary few days. I actually ended up collapsing one night and they found out that I had blood clots. And it was really crazy and scary. My family was definitely there for me, but I had a peace throughout most of it, but I was just kind of confused and wondering what was going on,” she explained. “And I thankfully had some amazing doctors who were able to just take care of everything and get me healthy. And it seems, you know, like it’s a manageable thing. Now I feel amazing now. And so you know, they’re still monitoring me and everything like that, but I feel great.”

In July, Kelly was admitted to the ICU at Cedars-Sinai Medical in Los Angeles to be treated for blood clots in her legs and lungs. That same week, her latest EP — and anticipated return to the pop and R&B sphere — Tori was set for release. The project arrived as scheduled, but she had to cancel the launch shows she had planned around it. Last month, she was able to perform four shows on a brief mini-tour.

“I kind of had the option like, ‘Okay, do I want to push it back even more?’ And I decided you know what? I’m still gonna put out this music even though I can’t promote it the way that I usually would,” she shared. “I was like, I really want to still give my fans the opportunity to just listen to music because this music is so happy and fun. I wanted them to just be able to have that. And then right when I was feeling better, I got to go out on tour and actually, you know, do the songs live and have fun with the fans. It was more tangible. I think you know everything happens for a reason. I’m glad I was able to actually still put out the music and there’s still more coming.”
