Heartstopper fans were delighted to hear Taylor Swift on the season two soundtrack but the story behind the song is even sweeter than expected.

The show is a coming-of-age story following Charlie, Nick – played by Joe Locke and Kit Connor – and their friends as they navigate love, coming out and growing up.

Its highly anticipated second season continued the first’s incredible soundtrack, featuring songs from Baby Queen, Girl in Red, and Taylor Swift.

Anyone who has watched season two of Heartstopper will have spotted the 33-year-old’s song during one of the climatic scenes.

Taylor has been super generous lately, giving her employees a whopping bonus and adding an extra US leg to her Eras tour.

Apparently, she also extended her generosity to the Heartstopper creators and reached out to let them use her music and it couldn’t be more perfect.

Matt Biffa, the music supervisor for the show, shared how Taylor’s song Seven came to be part of the show.

He replied to a tweet which said Heartstopper had the ‘big bucks’ for getting the Marjorie singer involved.

‘No, she just thought the scene was beautiful and we were then able to make it work 🙂 x,’ Matt wrote.

Seven plays as lesbian couple Darcy and Tara have an emotional breakthrough moment, which is then shared with all their friends in a moving uplifting scene.

One fan wrote: ‘So you mean THIS heartstopper scene with seven by taylor swift in the background that highlights sapphic love and absolute queer joy, she was willing to get less money because she thought it was beautiful and her song would be perfect for it???? 🥹🥹🥹’

Matt once again replied and shared: ‘Sometimes art is more important than $$$ 🙂 xx’

He also revealed that the Ours singer did not get to see the whole season before the rest of the world but did see that specific scene.

Fans were understandably losing their mind knowing Taylor was a fan of the show, which was an instant hit and is adored by viewers, especially in the LGBTQ+ community.

For swifties complaining Taylor’s song Paris didn’t play while the characters visited the city, Matt added: ‘We gave you “seven” instead 🙂 xx’

Excuse us, we’re just going to watch Heartstopper all over again and pray for season three.

Heartstopper is available to stream on Netflix.
