A California man reunited with his family in Los Angeles, days after he witnessed fellow concertgoers gunned down by Hamas terrorists at a southern Israel music festival.
Roei Burshtein and five of his cousins were celebrating the Jewish holiday of Sukkot when the Hamas infiltrated the Supernova music festival and launched a deadly, surprise attack on about 3,500 unsuspecting attendees Saturday.
At least 260 people died on the festival grounds.
Amid the chaos, Burshstein abandoned his belongings and ran for cover.
He touched down in L.A. Wednesday.
“Crazy… crazy. I really fought for my life,” Burshstein told KABC-TV as he arrived at LAX.
“We saw stuff… it wasn’t normal,” he recalled. “We saw people get hurt and get shot. I don’t have any words… I’m a little bit shocked right now, but still happy to be here.”
Burshstein was on the phone with his father at the onset of the Hamas perpetrated attacks, when the call suddenly dropped.
“I was on the line with him and then the phone hung up… no signal. I didn’t know where he was for like eight hours… I believed the worst happened,” his father, Yuval Burshtein, said.
Fortunately, his son made it out alive.
“It’s not only him. We have six family members and they went to this party and thank God, we got them all… home,” the elder Burshstein explained.
At least 2,800 people on both sides of the Israel-Hamas war have died since Friday, including 27 Americans. Thousands more have been reported wounded.
The Hamas claimed 13 hostages were killed as a result of Israel’s retaliatory strikes.
