Stockton’s Gathering Sounds Festival 2023 announces new acts

Teesside’s The Gathering Sounds Festival has announced more of the acts that will take the stage in Stockton-on-Tees on September 30 as well as the final stage setup.

Promoter This Feeling will be taking over the venue The Storytellers, bringing seven unique acts to the stage this year.

Rolla, a Manchester band made up of five childhood friends is set to perform.

Their “unique sound” has nods to bands from their scene including The Verve and The Stone Roses.

The second group to be announced is The Utopiates, a London indie rock band that launched during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Northern Echo: Fitzroy Holt.

Also on the roster is Fitzroy Holt, with his music described as being filled with “quiet, downtrodden beauty”, poised to take music lovers on a journey based on the singers own experiences.

Also headlining is The Facades, Lock-In and Columbia as organisers begin to gear up for what they say will be a “phenomenal” occasion.

This Feeling’s Mikey Jonns said: “We’re buzzing to be back at The Gathering Sounds. It’s a phenomenal day of new music in Stockton that we are proud to be part of.

“We’ve had acts such as Dylan John Thomas, The Native, Himalayas, Overpass, Dead Pony and Spangled grace the stage before going onto bigger things. This year’s much the same – the best new bands at the start of their story.

They added: “Come find us, appropriately, at the Storytellers venue…”

The Northern Echo: The line up.

The town is set to be taken over as the festival enters its 5th year, with KU Stockton and Stockton Arts Centre to also host artists from across the region.

North East star Andrew Cushin will also headline the festival, with his “kitchen sink” songwriting style.

Joining Cushin are dirty-faced rock ‘n’ rollers The Skinner Brothers and female alt-rebels GIRLBAND. Other acts confirmed to perform include The Clause, Deco, Fat Dog, Finn Forster, The Molotovs, Ruby J, Dawks, PICNIC, Bedroom Highclub, San Quentin, The Redroom, Casino, The Thieves, House of Wolves as well as many more still to be announced.
