According to reports, local authorities in India say that as a result of overcrowding in a university in the southern part of the country, at least four people have died, and dozens have been injured.
The Hindustan Times reported on Saturday night, November 25th, that this incident occurred at the “Indian Institute of Science and Technology, Cochin” in the southwestern state of Kerala.
According to reports, this incident occurred in a place where a concert was supposed to be held, and so far, the deaths of four individuals and injuries to more than 60 others have been confirmed.
Additionally, Arif Mohammaed Khan, the Governor of the state of Kerala, has expressed deep shock and sorrow in a statement on social media X in response to this incident and extended condolences to the victims’ families.
Furthermore, some health officials in this state have reported the critical condition of four of the injured individuals from this incident.
According to a police official, the cause of this incident was attributed to heavy rainfall and a sudden surge of the crowd from the auditorium to the covered area, resulting in some people slipping and getting trampled upon.
Before this, in similar events due to overcrowding, especially in religious ceremonies in India, dozens of people have lost their lives and sustained injuries.
