The Savannah Music Festival’s 35th season will start from Thursday, March 28 to Saturday, April 13 following a Spring Fling Benefit concert at Trustees’ Garden this Saturday to help raise funds for the Festival’s year-round residencies and educational programs.

And as its tagline this year “World of Music, One City” suggests, a wide variety of acclaimed artists and performers from across the globe are set to take the stage in downtown Savannah across fifteen different venues–including the iconic Johnny Mercer Theatre and the brand new Savannah Cultural Arts Center.

With genres ranging from folk and bluegrass to fado and jazz, there is ‘something for everybody’, says Ryan McMaken, artistic director with the Savannah Music Festival.

“There’s this great mix of music [this year], being able to go from a string quartet concert to an African concert to an Irish concert to a jazz concert in just one day,” McMaken said.

Savannah’s close-knit historic venues in particular help create a more interactive feel for concert-goers wanting to see their preferred artists.

“With this compact historical district, you can get up close and personal [at venues], but also get that stroll between shows, stepping into different restaurants and that kind of stuff as well,” McMaken said.

“Savannah is [just] a really great festival city”.
