The shortlists for the categories will be announced in January.

Known as one of the Irish music industry’s biggest nights, the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Event is returning to Vicar St on Thursday 7th March to announce this year’s prize winners.

Tickets for the event go on sale Friday 17th Nov at 9 am. You can find more information on tickets HERE.

Joining the live event is an exclusive live broadcast on RTÉ 2FM, along with a TV special on RTÉ2 later that month.

The prizes that will be awarded at the event include Irish Album of the Year 2023, Irish Song of the Year 2023, and three new prizes that were introduced last year: Irish Artist of the Year, Irish Breakthrough Artist, and Classic Irish Album. Last year’s winners include CMAT, Fontaines DC and Cian Ducrot.

The shortlists for the prizes will be announced throughout January, starting Monday 8th January with Irish Album of the Year.

“2FM is delighted to continue our partnership with the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for the 8th year running,” said RTÉ 2FM’s Head of Music, Adam Fogarty.

“The RTÉ Choice Music Prize is an important annual event in the wider Irish music landscape, and we’re delighted to be able to continue to celebrate all that is great about Irish music and Irish artists.

“The inclusion of the Irish Artist of the Year, Irish Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Classic Irish Album categories for the 2nd year running, coupled with the longstanding Irish Song of the Year and the preeminent Irish Album of the Year prizes allow us to more broadly represent the incredible past, present and exciting future of Irish music.”
