Rick Ross has given props to Cam Newton for how he handled himself after getting jumped by a group of men at a youth football game.

Speaking on Instagram Live, Rozay said: “I saw that footage of Cam Newton. You gotta give that boy props. That hat ain’t never came off. Fuck all that stand ten toes down. Nah. That hat got bobby pins, n-gga.”

Over the weekend, the former NFL MVP was seen in an altercation with a number of other men.

While wearing one of his trademark custom hats, Newton appeared to be jumped by a gang of three before retaliating. Police and security broke up the altercation after about 30 seconds.

It is not yet clear what led to the altercation but it is not believed anybody was injured. Newton was removed from the event following the incident.

The incident took place at youth football event in Atlanta which Newton and his organization C1N were participating in. The organization attempts to develop young athletes through 7-on-7 games of football and also improve them as human beings.

Cam Newton has not yet commented on the incident but it has been reported by The Athletic that the former Carolina Panthers quarterback was confronted by coaches for TopShelf Performance.

“We are deeply concerned about the recent incident involving Cam Newton, and our thoughts are with all parties affected,” TopShelf Performance trainers/coaches Stephon and TJ Brown said in a statement. “Violence has no place in our community, and we strongly condemn any form of aggression.”

It has since been reported that Stephon and TJ Brown were two of the individuals involved in the fight. Speaking to Fox News, they appeared to confirm this and put the blame on Newton for starting the fight.

TJ claimed Newton was taunting them, saying: “It’s probably three minutes into the game, he’s sitting up top with all his kids around him under a tent yelling down on us. ‘Hey, I know that play. That’s my stuff. I taught y’all everything y’all know. I’m y’all daddy. I made y’all. I’m the reason for everything y’all got going on.’ He’s just yelling all this stuff.”

TJ then claimed that he was defending Stephon from Newton: “If you’re walking up a flight of stairs, and you see a 6’6” guy grab your little brother trying to throw him down some stairs, you’re going to intervene.

“It doesn’t matter who you are, rather it be a punch, rather it be a push, rather it be grabbing him. You’re going to do something. So, at that point, with Cam putting his hands on another grown man, something is going to come behind that.”

TJ and Stephon Brown previously worked for Newton and his C1N team.
