Ramon Vargas Set to Open International Music Festival of Ildar Abdrazakov at Mariinsky Theatre

Ramon Vargas is set to perform at the VI International Music Festival of Ildar Abdrazakov.

The tenor will join Abdrazakov and the soloists of the Marrinsky Theatre on Sept. 25 for the opening night concert that will see the singers perform arias and duets of Russian and foreign composers. The evening will be held at the Mariinsky Theatre II.

The concert will mark Vargas’ first appearance in Russia since the beginning of Russian’s invasion of Ukraine. This season, the tenor is set to perform in Graz in a production of “Carmen” and in Tokyo in a production of ” Norma.” He is also set to celebrate his 40th anniversary in Mexico.

The International Music Festival of Ildar Abdrazakov is funded by the Ministry of Culture in Russia and VTB.
