RADNOR — Radnor High School junior Mira Caplan was selected as one of only five Alto 1 vocalists from Pennsylvania to participate in the National Association for Music Education’s National All-Eastern Honors Treble Choir April 24-27 in Hartford, CT.
Mira has been an active and accomplished member of Radnor Township School District’s music program since elementary school. She performed her first choir solo in fifth grade under the direction of Mrs. Beth Hacker at Ithan Elementary School.
At Radnor Middle School, she performed a featured solo in “A Million Dreams” and was awarded the Director’s Award for Chorus by Mr. David Rief and Mrs. Heather Spindel. At Radnor High School, Mira has continued to demonstrate exceptional leadership and musical skills.
She is a member of the treble A-Cappella group Madrigals and co-leads the mixed A-Cappella group ProMusica. She performs as a vocalist in the competitive Honors Jazz Ensemble, led by Mrs. Nora McDonnell, and serves as a soloist and Alto section leader in Meistersingers, under the direction of Mrs. Spindel.
Mira has participated in the PMEA Honors Choir since her sophomore year. She has consistently earned top placements at the District, Regional, and All-State levels. The NAfME National All-Eastern Honors Treble Choir festival consists of rigorous rehearsals under the direction of Dr. Jessica Napoles, Professor of Choral Music Education at the University of North Texas. The event culminates in a concert on April 27. This prestigious honor was awarded to only a select few singers from among hundreds of highly skilled vocalists who auditioned statewide.
In 2025, Mira again earned high rankings at both the District and Regional levels.
“Mira is an extremely hard worker, and I have thoroughly enjoyed witnessing her grow into a remarkable musician and singer. She brings immense talent and heart to each of her performances. Her upcoming opportunity to sing with some of the finest high school choral singers in the Northeast and work with a renowned conductor is well deserved,” said Mrs. Spindel of working with Mira.
With eight years of vocal training, Mira’s experience spans multiple genres. She studied Indian classical music in her early training with Dr. Divya Balasubramanyan. She currently trains in jazz, classical, and pop voice with Dr. Lisa Willson DeNolfo at Willson Vocal Academy. She will attend the West Chester University Summer Music Institute in 2025 to further her development in classical, choral, and jazz vocal performance.
Mira will also attend the Voice Foundation’s annual Vocal Health Symposium in May and study the intersection of music, art, and medicine. Although she plans to pursue a career in Design and Illustration, focusing on Medical Illustration, Mira is committed to keeping music an active and meaningful part of her artistic and personal life.
