Just a few days after initial reports that Princess Kate made her first-ever trip to a music festival, where she was treated to some of England’s best dance music, more details have emerged about Kate’s night out.
To recap, the Daily Mail reported that last weekend Kate was visiting her longtime friends, David and Rose, the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, at Houghton Hall, their Norfolk estate, for a dinner party. While she was visiting the Cholmondeleys (pronounced “Chumleys”), the estate grounds just so happened to be hosting England’s only 24-hour dance festival, which ran from August 10 to 13 this year. According to a source who spoke to the Mail, Kate decided to join a group who were going from the house to the festival after conferring with her protection officers. Prince William was not in attendance. (When contacted by Vanity Fair, Kensington Palace declined to comment on the reports of Kate at the festival.)
On Wednesday, the Evening Standard came back with further details of Kate’s time at the Houghton Festival, along with a photo showing Kate wearing a black boatneck top, Veja sneakers, and silver jewelry, as she talked to fellow festival-goers. According to a source who spoke to the newspaper, Kate arrived at the festival grounds with a group of people carrying a balthazar of AIX rosé, which is a bottle containing 12 liters of the mid-market French wine. The source added that Kate drank a spicy margarita and ate some affogato as she spoke “affably” with her companions, and afterward the group left a tip of 700 British pounds.
It’s another fascinating entry into the long history of Kate and beverages. Last month, she grabbed a glass of champagne at a polo match. Over the past few years, she has been photographed pulling a few pints of beer, and in 2022, she took a quick mixology class on a trip to Northern Ireland. Back in 2010, when Kate and William lived in Wales, a source at their local pub told the Daily Mail that William was partial to bitter ales, while Kate generally opted for white wine or sparkling water. At the couple’s 2011 wedding, they reportedly served a cocktail of vodka, Champagne, Chambord, and passion fruit juice that was a favorite at the nightclub Boujis, and in 2006, Tatler reported that Jack Daniels was her whiskey of choice. All in all, it seems like Kate is the kind of person who is happy to partake in whatever’s being served.
