The rolling music festival lasted five hours.”We like to get out in Des Moines and support live music, and this is a great way to do it,” Jeff Thompson, an attendee, said. “It’s a beautiful day to be out, especially after a great weekend with the Iowa, Iowa State game and coming out on Sunday.”According to the event’s website, PorchFest is “a national grass-roots movement connecting local musicians with a porch where they can perform for an hour while attendees stop to listen, all the while connecting with neighbors and friends.”The organization said they hope to be an annual event and one day, be able to showcase other historical districts in the Des Moines metro area.
