OSHKOSH – Listen to some great live music during Oshkosh’s Main Street Music Festival, celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday or learn more about kayaking. These are just a few of the things happening this week in the Oshkosh area.
Here are your five can’t-miss events happening in the community this week.
Oshkosh Main Street Music Festival will take place July 27 to 30 in downtown Oshkosh.
There is no admission fee to listen to the variety of bands schedule.
Locations hosting bands include the Opera House Square, Barley & Hops, Fletch’s Tap House, Peabody’s, Winner’s Sports Bar and Grill, and New Moon Cafe.

Barley & Hops, 663 N. Main St., will host a “Dig Into The Garden Party” July 29. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., all tips and 50% of proceeds will benefit the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
The band Second Hand Stereo will play at 11 a.m. There also will be raffle baskets to win. If it’s not too hot, attendees can take their furry friends as long as they are leashed.
EAA AirVenture:EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023 will bring Air Force F-15s, F-22s and other military aircraft
Celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday with a party at Caramel Crisp Corner July 30. The party will run 1 to 4 p.m. at 200 City Center.
Attendees can get butter beer, take part in a Harry Potter character costume contest, or get a photo taken in the Hogwarts booth. There also will be plenty of Harry Potter merchandise to buy.
Fantasy authors will be on hand to chat with and Elle Binder will have her handmade Harry Potter bookmarks and help kids make their own.
The same day, “Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone” will be shown at 2 p.m. at the Time Community Theater, 445 N. Main St. Admission is free.
Fox Valley Outdoor Adventures will present the “Essentials of Kayaking” at 5 p.m. July 31 at Menominee Park Zoo, 520 Pratt Trail. The class is for ages 16 and older.
Participants should have prior experience kayaking. The clinic will focus on paddling technique, rescue techniques, entering the kayak if you fall in the water, safety and paddle signals, and more.
A kayak and paddle will be provided.

For the crafty souls, the Oshkosh Recreation Department is hosting some new adult classes.
Learn to create a wire crochet bracelet on July 31. Earrings will be added, if time permits. The class runs 6 to 9 p.m. at Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church, 1174 Algoma Blvd. All supplies will be provided. The fee is $25.
On Aug. 1, a class on tree trinkets and garden wand will be held 6 to 8 p.m., also at Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church. The fee is $27.
