Woodstock Enterprises, located at Rehoboth, this weekend introduced its first night market.

This comes after a successful event, titled ‘Gyzie and the Night’, was held on Saturday.

The first night market featured langarm and jazz artist Gyzie.

Bognahn Moller, Woodstock’s digital marketing and communications manager, says apart from providing live music, the market is aimed at giving small businesses, entrepreneurs and other vendors a platform to exhibit their products while networking and enjoying the day in a family-friendly setting.

“We not only speak to the concept of community through a shared love of music, but also with an overall perspective on how a diverse range of interests can be recognised through blending cultural similarities and differences,” she says.

Apart from night markets, Woodstock also hosts market days, introduced as Woodstock Market Day on 2 July.

Moller says more similar events would be held at Rehoboth.

She says the town is often overlooked for its magnitude of talent in the arts, despite local efforts to engage national support.

She says the market aims to help develop the community of Rehoboth, as many small businesses are looking for opportunities to grow.

The idea is not only to create entrepreneurial opportunities, but also for the community to indulge in fun, networking and support of each other.

“We decided to host this particular market at night and going into December, with the intention of drawing a different audience. We are also highlighting summer nights with live outdoor entertainment, while building on an atmosphere of December and its spirit of vacation, which is fun and relaxing,” Moller says.
