Murals and Music Festival comes to Carson City this Fall | Carson City Nevada News

Nearly two dozen talented artists are getting ready to paint the town in Carson City this fall. The Carson City Mural and Music festival kicks off September 28th in locations across the city and runs through the 30th.

Members of the Rotary Club of Carson City, as well as the public, can learn more about the event at the next club meeting on Aug. 2.

Festival organizer Eric Brooks will be the guest speaker at the noon meeting in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.

“I’m thrilled to be able to help increase Carson City’s visibility in the arts and tourism world,” he said. “Our city will become even more vibrant with the creation of more public art.”

The three-day festival features local, national and international mural artists along with nightly concerts. Up to 19 walls in and around the downtown corridor will be transformed with colorful murals.

The walls include businesses as well as private residences. Visit Carson City, the Brewery Arts Center and the City of Carson are partnering to produce the event. Funding is coming from community groups, local businesses and private individuals.

Brooks says the festival’s impact will continue long after the event has ended.

“This inaugural festival will bring beautiful art to public places. But more importantly, it will serve as a catalyst for continued revitalization, crossing economic and social boundaries,” he explained.

He also believes the murals will help grow interest in Carson City as a cultural destination.

“This Festival will bring an array of diverse talents to produce colorful public art. Soon, thousands of travelers, along with locals, will have an outdoor art gallery to stop at and enjoy.”
