Moffat County vocal students had reason to raise their voices this past week.
MCHS choir members traveled to Coal Ridge High School in New Castle on Friday, Feb. 16 to perform in the Solo and Ensemble Festival.
The event provided an opportunity for select singers to perform a solo or duet for judges, as well as working one-on-one with music instructors and receiving feedback.
Moffat County had 10 entries in the festival, including MaryAnn Booker, Keylee Bower, Olivia Cordova, Kimber Hume, Ronin Miller, Taylor Powell, Marie Roberts, Madeline Turner and Zachary Womble.
Besides solos, Booker and Bower also performed a duet.
With ratings ranging from I (superior) to II (excellent) to III (good) to IV (fair), all of the MoCo performances received either a I or a II.
“The participants received high praise from the adjudicator and learned a great deal about vocal singing technique and musical presentation,” said MCHS music instructor Juliann Matheson. “They were well-prepared and performed wonderfully.”
