PANAMA CITY BEACH, Florida – (December 7, 2023) –WonderWorks Panama City Beach is wrapping up the year with a Sensory Day on December 10, 2023, from 10 am to noon. During this special event, guests can experience all the wonder and amazement of the upside-down house without overloading their senses. Guests interested in this event can also score discounted admission tickets for only $12 per person, plus tax. Everyone in the party will be eligible for the discounted tickets, which can be purchased upon arrival at the admissions desk.

“We’re all about keeping family fun accessible here at WonderWorks, so we’re looking forward to hosting our last Sensory Day of the year this month,” says Darren Grooms, general manager at WonderWorks Panama City Beach. “While we try to provide our guests with the ultimate experiences at our facility, we do understand that it can be overwhelming at times; so, this is a great event for families to explore in a calmer environment.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, sensory overload happens when input from any of your senses feels overwhelming, which triggers a physiological response. Common sensory overload triggers include loud sounds, bright or flashing lights, etc. During Sensory Day, WonderWorks’ exhibits will be altered to be more sensory-friendly for those who may find them uncomfortable. The music in the facility will be lowered, the inversion tunnel will be stopped, and loud exhibits will be turned off. This helps to create a less sensory-stimulating environment, allowing everyone to enjoy the exhibits without feeling overwhelmed. Children, parents, caretakers, and friends are all eligible for the $12 admission rate during this event.

Engaging the community is important to the WonderWorks team. Programs like Sensory Day, Family Fun Day, Homeschool Days, and the FLO-Art Youth Arth Contest invite the community in to the upside-down house to create memorable experiences for all. Those with a young artist in their family will not want to miss their chance to enter the FLO-ART Youth Art Contest at WonderWorks Panama City Beach. Local student artists are invited to submit their art entries through December 13, 2023. The contest allows these young artists to show off their creativity and compete for the chance to be featured in the Wonder Art Gallery inside WonderWorks. Teachers and parents can also submit artwork on behalf of their students. This year’s theme is Innovate & Create. “The FLO-ART: North Florida Youth Art Gallery is a popular spot inside WonderWorks, so it’s always exciting to host our annual art content and select new masterpieces to be displayed!” says Amanda Hinzman, education sales manager at WonderWorks Panama City Beach. “We love seeing what our local students can create. Get your submissions in!”
