Lil Reese has revealed some tragic news: his beloved sister has died.

The Chicago rapper took to his Instagram stories on Friday (December 22) to let his fans know that his sister, who goes by @reskimacin2 on Instagram, had passed away.

“Just lost my sister, I’m so hurt [broken heart emoji],” he wrote in the first slide. “Love you 4eva [broken heart emoji].”

Details about her passing are scarce. The family has not released an official statement or cause of death.

Check out Lil Reese’s tribute to his sister below.

In the past, Lil Reese’s sister defended her brother when he needed it most.

Back in October, rumors began circulating that the rapper had been shot in Chicago — although this was subsequently debunked when an associate of the former Def Jam signee posted a text from Reese calling the story “fake news.”

Lil Reese’s sister also took to her Instagram Stories to shut down the rumors of his shooting. “Before y’all keep steady DM and steady calling and texting me, it’s nothing wrong with my brother! That shit is so old ppl just weird as hell out here!!!” she wrote.

The Chicago rapper (real name Tavares Lamont Taylor) has been involved in controversial headline-making situations before.

Lil Reese Denies Reports He Was Arrested For Trespassing: ‘Stop Believing Goofy Sh-t’

This past fall, Reese found himself at the center of a ton backlash after he blatantly went out of his way to humiliate a homeless person – and subsequently apologized.

The Chicago rapper issued his mea culpa not long after tape of the initial event became public, and made a plan to right his wrongs.

“I would like to apologize to my fans and everybody watching for recording and laughing while they were pouring water on the homeless man in the video,” he wrote. “I do not condone or support that type of behavior in any way. I will be giving away money to the homeless community as well as giving away food, clothes and water twice a month going forward. 100.”

The controversy was sparked when the Chicago drill rapper uploaded footage of himself walking with a group of people, while holding a drink in his hand. Upon walking, he noticed a homeless man was sleeping in a fetal position on the ground.

Once he was able to flip his camera around, things took a turn for the worse. “Get his ass,” he said repeatedly. Get his ass.”

After one of his friends said, “Wake up unc,” Lil Reese replied, “Put that bitch on his head, fuck him, put that bitch on his head,” and proceeded to pour his entire drink on the man, which made him stand up quickly and reply, “C’mon man! Don’t do that man. That ain’t right man.”

Everyone around him burst out laughing after witnessing the homeless man’s reaction.
