Perth’s revellers did everything they could to keep cool as the city’s run of hot days failed to keep thousands away from the St Jerome Laneway Festival on Sunday.

Under the baking 37-degree sun at Wellington Square in East Perth, the Festival headlined by UK rapper Stormzy drew crowds for the last day of the event’s national tour.

Light clothing, hand fans and cold water were all the order of the day, as artists such as Steve Lacy, Dominic Fike and Dope Lemon — Australian songwriter Angus Stone — took to the stage.

And Perth looks set to get little relief from the onslaught of summer, with temperatures forecast in the high 30s for all but one of the next seven days.

Sunday’s high of 37.5 degrees came after two consecutive days over 40 degrees on Friday and Saturday.

Perth’s forecast shows highs of 35 on Monday and Tuesday, before hitting a maximum of 39 on Thursday.

The mercury dips to 31 on Friday, before climbing over next weekend to a high of 38 on Sunday.
