On May 18, Sound Mind Music Festival for Mental Health will return for its sixth annual benefit concert series. This year’s event will feature headline performances from indie icons singer-songwriter Kevin Morby and pop quintet MisterWives, as well as sets from Bailen and SHAED and an afterparty by DJ White Shadow. Taking over Jefferson Street in Bushwick, New York, this purpose-driven event is free to all and will offer an array of attractions from noon into the night
Beyond the biggest names, Sound Mind Live’s celebration will also feature performances from Estatic Dance featuring 2Mello and food and beverage services from New York institution Smorgasburg. Other events to keep attendees captivated include dance parties presented by House of Yes, a DJ bus from Junxion Alegra and live art activations throughout the day. In keeping with the organization’s mission of promoting mental health, the event will offer such healing activities as yoga, meditation, breathwork and sound bath sessions for any music lovers seeking a moment of escape
While general admission is free, Sound Mind Live will also offer a VIP option, including exclusive festival access, merch and entrance to the afterparty with DJ White Shadow, best known for producing Lady Gaga’s Born This Way and Artpop. Donations and proceeds from the event will go to support the development of Sound Mind Center, a wellness center for healing experiences through music and sound and a live music and community space.
“Sound Mind Fest isn’t just an event – it’s a movement,” shares Sound Mind Live’s executive director Chris Bullard. “We’re bringing together a coalition of artists, influential organizations, and people from all walks of life to celebrate our shared humanity and foster community support. It’s a rallying point where our mental and emotional challenges aren’t obstacles but rather the glue that binds us and the fuel propelling us to new heights together. Music, the universal language, takes the lead in driving this movement forward like it has so many other movements throughout history.”
