DOWNTOWN — Rising house music DJ and Naperville native John Summit is bringing his friends to Chicago for a live electronic music fest this weekend.
The three-day event, John Summit and Friends, runs Thursday-Saturday at Northerly Island’s Huntington Bank Pavilion, 1300 S. Linn White Drive. Friday and Saturday have sold out, but resale tickets are still available.
Tickets are sold online via Ticketmaster and Live Nation. They start at $89.45 for Thursday, $136.85 for Friday and $157.30 for Saturday. Attendees must be 18 and older.
The music fest will celebrate Summit, a Chicagoland native and music producer. He’ll take the stage with friends like hybrid techno DJ Kevin de Vries, California dance music artist Max Styler, pop and electronic music professional Chris Avantgarde and several others.
Summit is “a rising star” in the house music industry, known for hits like “Make Me Feel” and “Forgotten One.” His 2024 debut album, “Comfort in Chaos,” was released July 24 and has amassed more than 280 million Spotify streams. It explores human dualities like vice and virtue and highs and lows, according to Summit’s Spotify.
He’s also often spotted the social media feeds of his TikToking girlfriend, Ashtin Earle, and her sister, Alix Earle.
While Summit is now a sought-after name in the global dance music scene — playing sold-out shows at venues like BMO stadium in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in New York, plus festivals like Coachella — he started off as an accountant who taught YouTube music productions tutorials at night. He studied accounting at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign before pivoting to music in 2019.
Summit experienced a breakthrough just one year later after releasing “Deep End” in 2020, which was named EDM brand Beatport’s number one song of the year, according to EDMTunes.
The fest is organized by Experts Only, a record label and events brand founded by Summit.
