Jeezy‘s Tiny Desk performance hasn’t exactly received the accolades given to similar performances, with many of the Atlanta rapper’s fans underwhelmed.

While some commenters noted that the crowd was mostly to blame for the “Church in These Streets” rapper not being at his absolute best — with one commenter on The Shade Room‘s Instagram noting that the crowd was too young to remember Jeezy’s greatest hits (“Listen Jeezy needed a crowd of folks ages 31-41 of reformed trappers or girls that love trap music and reformed trappers. The crowd was not it.”) — other commenters took the Atlanta native to task for being less than enthusiastic about performing.

“Love Jeezy for real but something was off with this one,” wrote one commenter on the 2 Cool 2 Blog Instagram. “Didn’t move me at all .. Two things that made Young Jeezy, great 1. baselines [sic], 2. Adlibs … two things he didn’t have on tiny desk,” wrote another, and a third wrote, “Damn this like when Kobe started pump faking 5x before getting his shot off after the Achilles injury.”

The trap pioneer’s mini-concert premiered on Wednesday (February 21) and features some of his most beloved hits: “Air Forces” from Trap Or Die (2003) and “Everythang” from TM:103 Hustlerz Ambition (2008); and four tracks — “Standing Ovation,” “Bottom of the Map,” “And Then What” and “Go Crazy” — from his career-defining blockbuster, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 (2005).

“If you’ve been ridin’ with me since day one, I’ma just take y’all on a journey so ya’ll can see how I got from there to here, to Tiny Desk,” he said before the first song. “I used to stand on a tiny porch, but if you stick with your dreams and stay about your business, you can get anywhere.”

The Tiny Desk series has been on a roll as of late when it comes to rap. In December, Scarface secured a coveted a slot on the series and delivered a dynamic 30-minute set featuring crowd favorites such as “On My Block,” “Mary Jane,” and “Smile.”

The success of the performance resulted in the 53-year-old announcing the Brad “Scarface” Jordan Behind The Desk Experience. The 25-day tour will commence in Miami, FL on March 10 and run for a little over a month, with the final show scheduled for Charlotte, NC on April 14.
