GURYE, Aug. 7 (Korea Bizwire) The Hwaeomsa Temple Mosquito Net Film Music Festival occurred on Saturday night at Hwaeomsa Temple, situated in Gurye County, South Jeolla Province.

Initiated in 2021, the music festival drew inspiration from the ancestral wisdom of combatting summer heat through consumption of steamed potatoes and corn within mosquito nets.

Dr. Yoo Jeong-woo, a cardiothoracic surgeon and classical music critic, presented notable opera excerpts from various movies.

These included “Sull’aria” from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera “Le nozze di Figaro,” featured in the film “Shawshank Redemption”; “O Mio Babbino Caro” from Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Gianni Schicchi,” featured in the film “A Room with a View”; and “Humming Chorus” from Puccini’s opera “Madama Butterfly,” featured in the film “House of Gucci.”

In addition, a unique performance by a piano trio and Troubard, a popera ensemble, harmonized with the starlit ambiance atop Jiri Mountain and the melody of a flowing stream.

Attendees were given a guided tour of the temple, enabling them to delve into its historical significance as well as its collection of national treasures and heritage.

Hwaeomsa Temple extended an invitation to Gurye County residents, Mount Jiri merchants, immigrants, and temple stay guests, offering them an avenue to satiate their cultural thirst within the community.
