Born-and-raised in Chicago, Gusted is the brainchild of 21-year-old Danny Dickmann. Drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of artists such as Patrick Topping, Justin Jay, Narciss, Marlon Hoffstadt, and Salvatore Ganacci, Gusted’s sonic identity surpasses his years, as evidenced by his meteoric rise in the industry. His debut chart-topping single, “Jet Plane,” released in late 2022, quickly amassed 25+ Million streams. Recently, Gusted shared the stage with deadmau5’ Testpilot alias for a sold out show at The Brooklyn Mirage.

Now he’s back, this time dusting off Dead or Alive’s classic hit “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)” with a electrifying, upbeat techno/trance infused arrangement. It’s the perfect song to kickstart any morning with it’s pulsating bass line, pumping four on the floor groove, driven by these iconic vocals. “This track was crafted during a period of creative stagnation when it seemed like nothing was clicking,” shares Gusted. “My friend Justin Jay encouraged me to not overthink it, which helped me break through the writer’s block. I ultimately created a track I’d want to perform live.

The choice of the original Dead or Alive song holds personal significance for Gusted, lending back to his earliest musical influences. “The original Dead or Alive song was on my first little iPod. I remember listening to it countless times, as I had only a few songs downloaded. I made the remix without overthinking it, simply sending it around, and to my surprise, it resonated with people. It reaffirms that my best tracks emerge when I’m in a carefree, exploratory state of mind, not fixated on the final outcome.
