In early October, the Greater Cleveland Music Census, which was announced with extensive media coverage back in September, officially launched.

The census is a community-led initiative to gather information to better understand the needs of the Cleveland-area music community and make more informed, data-driven decisions to support the area’s music scene. It asks people working within the music community to answer specific questions about their work and their perceptions, including demographics, occupation types and diversity. It will then analyze the responses it gathers to help chart a path forward for the area music industry. Get more background details here.

The deadline to respond to the census is this Friday December 1.

The leaders of the census share, “We have over 1,450 responses so far, but with a strong push, we hope we can get that number up to 2,000 by the end of the week!”

They add, “The survey is open to EVERYONE in the live entertainment ecosystem — the creatives, the presenters and all of the other professionals that support live entertainment. In addition to music, this survey is intended to capture comedy, spoken word and burlesque performers — all of the folks you see on our local stages throughout the year.”

If you are 18 and over, and work in any aspect of the local entertainment business, full or part-time, they want to hear from you
