The Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival will present another live-streamed digital concert on Monday at 7 p.m.
The program features The Fire and Music Project, a grant funded exploration of the world of land management and prescribed fire through the eyes, words and music of several artists, poets, and musicians.
The festival has enjoyed a long run of digital concerts since mid-2020, when the pandemic disrupted the regular performing careers of dozens of affiliated musicians. In the years since, the festival has produced over 40 live-streamed events that have not only given musicians paid performance work, but also expanded its reach with audiences.
The Fire and Music Project is the creation of festival co-founder Ellen McGehee, who has worked with the festival as one of its violinists and as the primary host while the musicians are in Trinity County. She will introduce this project and detail the work being done by other festival musicians to bring perspective and attention to California’s relationship to place through the lens of fire.
The program will feature musical performances and explorations by festival musicians Ian Scarfe, James Jaffe and Christina Simpson, poetry by Silvi Alcivar and a special presentation by composer Julie Zhu.
This program will be free and open to the public. Registration is required to attend. Visit the festival website at www.TrinityAlpsCMF.org to reserve a spot.
