Fair Park will be the site of a new two-day Memorial Day weekend music festival dubbed TwoGether Land.

TwoGether Land is an expansion of One Musicfest, an Atlanta festival founded by Jason “J.” Carter in 2010. The Atlanta festival drew 100,000 fans this year to hear Janet Jackson, Kendrick Lamar, T-Pain, DJ Drama and more, according to organizers

The Dallas festival will take place May 25-26, and organizers said performers would be announced at a later date. The festival is backed by Live Nation Urban, which focuses on hip-hop, R&B and gospel.

On its website, One Musicfest bills itself as the Southeast’s largest two-day urban progressive music festival.

“We want TwoGether Land to feel like it belongs to the Southwest, to Dallas,” Carter said in a release announcing the event. “It’s not just an expansion; it’s an integration of the rich cultural tapestry that defines this region.

“Atlanta can’t have all the fun. This is a call to the Southwest region to join us, celebrate with us, and show the world the true essence of our music and culture.”

Carter told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he recognized an absence of Black musicians at large-scale music festivals such as Lollapalooza and Coachella. He decided to change that by co-founding One Musicfest.

“One Musicfest feels like a Woodstock kumbaya experience that’s a wonderfully safe environment to be celebrated and celebrate the skin you’re in by our culture and our music,” he told the Journal-Constitution.

In Dallas, TwoGether Land aims to cater to the diverse musical preferences of the Dallas market, such as R&B, hip hop and Latin artists, organizers said.

“With its mix of diverse music genres, this event will provide a music festival option that the Dallas market has been missing,” Stacey Church, Fair Park general manager, said in the release.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said in the release he hopes to see the festival become “a staple in our culture scene for years to come.”
