Ella Eyre has opened up about how Adele impacted her music career after an emotional night out.

The singer, 29, admitted that watching Adele perform at the Brit Awards when she was 17-years-old changed her life and inspired her to pursue a career as a pop star.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline to mark the launch of new wine brand JOY, Ella said: ‘I remember I was at the Brit Awards when Adele sang someone like you.

‘I was videoing it on my Nokia phone and watching all of my friends cry around me. I thought to myself, “I would love to touch people emotionally in this way with something I’ve created” and that’s exactly where my passion came from.

‘It was just about being inspired by artists around me who had that affect on me and wanting to provide that to people as well.’

Ella is known for her collaboration with Rudimental on their UK number-one single Waiting All Night which won the 2014 Brit Award for British Single of the Year.

Her hit’s include Came Here For Love, We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off and Deep Down.

She also won Best Newcomer at the MOBO awards in 2014 with her gritty soulful voice, following that with Best Female Act last year.

And her career is going from strength to strength, with another album in the pipeline to be released this year.

Speaking more about where her passion for music comes from, Ella said: ‘As a young person before social media, music was my way of expressing myself. When you are young you go through your first heartbreaks, you make friends and lose friends.

‘Music was a real anecdote to that and healing, either in a sad way or empowering way. I love to dance and sing, even if I wasn’t good at the time, it didn’t matter it encouraged real human behaviours in me. I loved listening to songs with lyrics that really resonated with me.

‘When I realised I could sing and people stopped telling me to shut up that was something I wanted for myself, to make music that made people feel the way that I felt about the music I loved and to feel not alone.’

Despite being in the public-eye, Ella admitted she does like to keep some aspects of her life private like her relationship.

Ella explained: ‘When we were first getting into social media, we were sharing things, it was fun to take pictures and post them. Gradually you post too much and then you break-up, but everyone has all that content and all of that information that you can’t take back.

‘I think ultimately the reason for me why I’m private now is because once things are online you can’t take it back. It is really important to keep things between yourself and sometimes it can appear you are overcompensating if you share too much, so I think keep a little bit of yourself for yourself.

‘I think that helps with hate and trolls as well because then they don’t know everything. Then comments they are making are irrelevant because they don’t have the information to make an assumption of you.’

Ella recently showed off her vocal talent as she performed at the launch of new wine brand JOY in Manchester on Wednesday evening.

JOY is brand new wine which is created to empower those who are fun, standout, seriously unserious, inclusive and upbeat.

Speaking about collaborating with the brand, Ella said: ‘I love that it is very inclusive, it is a fun brand. It is a very uncomplicated brand to have a relationship with!

‘I also love wine and a spritz. My favourite is a white wine, but it depends on what I’m eating. The older I get, the more I experiment with my palette.

‘Sometimes with wine it is hard to know what to choose when you are first getting into it. You go into a supermarket and there are walls of wine but this wine makes it easier. There’s no reason why you wouldn’t love it, it takes the hard decisions away and takes time out of your shopping time.’

Explaining what she is like on a night out, Ella said: ‘I deliberately put my phone away when I’m drinking because I can’t be trusted!

‘I get really confident when I drink, I become the spokesperson for people in trouble, I defend people, or I simply sing the loudest at karaoke. My confidence levels increase by about 500 times.’

Ella also added that she’s had loads of fun nights out while on tour and has even missed her tour bus from Liverpool to London before due to having too much fun.

The new JOY wine range – which includes red, white, rosé and an orange spritz – is now available exclusively at Asda, starting from £6.50.
