RANDALL — Country Thunder kicked off Thursday without any major issues at the country music festival.

Thursday’s opening went smoothly, according to Country Thunder spokesman Megan Benoit., despite a lineup change.

Koe Wetzel was the scheduled headliner for Thursday night, but was unable to perform due to illness. Performing in his place was Randy Houser.

“Randy Houser did a stellar job,” Benoit said.

The four day music festival kicked off Thursday with a new act, Charlie Argo, who will be performing again Sunday on the festival’s Lake Stage.

“We saw 90% of the campers,” Benoit said. “It was a great turnout. It was a good start to the weekend.”

Attendance numbers were not immediately available. Event organizers indicated an estimated 30,000 people will be on site each day at the 37-acre Shadow Hill Ranch, 2305 Lance Drive, in the Town of Randall.

Law enforcement working the festival and campgrounds, including traffic control, reported few problems as Country Thunder’s large crowds turned out Thursday.

Kenosha Country Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Colin Coultrip said there were 26 citations issues and two arrests. One arrest was for a “belligerent underage drinker” and one was “for someone who was also being belligerent and fighting with deputies.”

“Overally, the first night was a success,” Coultrip said.

Benoit advised there are still single-day Country Thunder tickets available online at Countrythunder.com for anyone who may want to attend over the weekend.
