CHICO, Calif. – The Chico Housing Action Team, known as CHAT, hosted a Summer Wellness Fair and Music Festival, spotlighting local businesses that support their mission for safe and stable housing.
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, CHAT Chico Housing Action Team hosted a holistic wellness event to promote healthy lifestyles for the people of Chico. They had about 12 healthy vendors. Lizzy Young the executive director for CHAT says they are trying to raise between 5 thousand and 10 thousand dollars for CHAT’s mission.
“We have our time home village which is Everhart Village and that’s built specifically for folks with mental health illness in mind and its right next to Butte Behavioral Health so these funds would really help support Everhart Village and our ability to continue to care for individuals that are dealing with mental health illness,” said Young.
The festival featured various holistic wellness vendors, including herbal practitioners and massage therapists. Apollo Janas, a certified sound therapist, explained the benefits of sound therapy.
“Sound therapy is just a wonderful relaxing way to help relax and relieve stress through entrainment of sound vibrations,” said Janas.
Mayela Luevano from a Mesoamerican cupping studio shared insights into her unique products.
“So I have the horchata powder its a powder you use to make a nourishing oat based drink, it helps with hormonal and circulatory health and then my message oil is based with prickly pear seed oil and olive oil from a local farm in Corning,” said Luevano.
