Break out your musical talents as the Bow Valley Music Festival is back for their 14th year. The festival will run March 21 to 23 at the St. Micheals Hall with the final showcase concert on March 24 at artsPlace from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The festival will run March 21-23 at St. Micheals Hall with the final showcase concert on March 24 at artsPlace from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Online registration for musicians opens Jan. 9 and closes Feb. 16 and is open to all ages and skill levels. To register visit bvmusicfestival.com.

On March 21, singers will kick off the festival followed by piano on March 22, strings on March 22 and 23 and brass and woodwinds on March 23.

The festival is open to permanent residents of Lake Louise, Banff, Canmore, Lac Des Arcs, Deadman’s Flats, Exshaw, Mînî Thnî, Bragg Creek, Redwood Meadows and Cochrane. Students may also register if their teacher is a permanent resident of any mentioned communities.

The Bow Valley Music Festival Society is a non-profit organization that aims to help musicians develop their talents as well as provide a space for students and private music teachers to meet and learn together.

Adjudicating the festival will be Therasa Plotnick for strings, Kathy Dornian for piano, Lauren Woods for voice and musical theater and Carsten Rubeling for brass and woodwinds.

Following the Bow Valley festival, selected participants will be invited to perform in Edmonton for the provincial festival, which takes place from May 27 to June 1.

In 2023, seven students from the Bow Valley festival earned their place in provincials. Iri Takano won first place in Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music piano solo class at provincials and Lily Burden Sonora Inageda and Melie Inageda all took home third in their respective categories.
