She grew up listening to Amy Winehouse, Imelda May, and Etta James, and recently graduating with a degree in Popular Music from Leeds Conservatoire.

Speaking about her new song, she says “I wrote Fickle Friend about someone who broke my trust, and it hurt, and when a friend around messes you around sometimes the only thing to do is to tell them how you really feel and then break-up.

“Singing it out helped me vent my feelings, and I can’t wait to hear about how people relate situations in their own lives to the one I went through.”

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I’m an Irish Australian singer-songwriter, drama, and dance enthusiast. Outside of music, I love to go horse-riding, to linger over a cup of tea, and to chill in comfy clothes on the couch watching TV with my miniature schnauzer, Charlie.

How would you describe your music?

My pop soul music is playful yet introspective and offers unflinchingly honest depictions of modern relationships which makes it relatable. The sound is a hybrid of pop, rock, jazz, blues, and funk with an underlying message encouraging empowerment, authenticity, and self-acceptance.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Imelda May, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Etta James, and Ray Charles.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I was about eight or nine and my parents had tickets for the whole family to see them. I came out of that gig going that’s what I want to do and then spent the car ride home listening to all of their music.

What was the first record you ever bought?

The Adele 21 album. I remember at the time she was my favourite artist for years and when it came out, I just had to have it.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Earworm by Vulpeck, Vulf and Vulfmon. I just love the concept of a song about being an earworm. It’s very funny and catchy, just like an earworm!

Favourite lyric of all time?

‘Smile and maybe tomorrow you’ll see the sun come shining through for you’ from Nat King Cole’s Smile. I often play the song when I’m a bit down. It never fails to make me smile.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That’s a very tough one! I think my answer may change but for now I’d say Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers but pretty much every Amy Winehouse song is up there for me.

Where can people find your music/more information?

I’m on most popular streaming services such as Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, YouTube, Amazon, Apple. Sometimes you have to search a song name along with Kt, so add my new song name Fickle Friend to your search. I also have some demos on my website, ktmusician.com, and on Breaking Tunes.
