The 48th season of Saturday Night Live was cut short due to the Writers Guild of America’s (WGA) strike. With the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) reaching an agreement to end the strike, SNL is coming back for its 49th season on Saturday, October 14. The first new musical guest is Ice Spice, and Pete Davidson will host the season premiere. The following week, on October 21, Bad Bunny will pull double-duty as the host and musical performer.

Bad Bunny made his first appearance on SNL in 2020. The following year, he was properly a musical guest on the program.

Pete Davidson was going to host Saturday Night Live on May 6, but the episode was canceled due to the strike. Davidson spent nine seasons on the NBC program before departing as a cast member last year.

The major late-night TV programs returned this week due to the strike’s end. So far, Boygenius, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, John Mayer, Louis Cato, and others have delivered late-night musical performances.

While WGA resolved its dispute with AMPTP, the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) is still on strike. According to Deadline, the latter union gave its blessing for its members to appear on Saturday Night Live.
