B.G. was allowed to perform with Boosie Badazz and didn’t violate his parole by doing so, according to his lawyers.
Attorneys for the artist born Christopher Dorsey claimed as much in court filings on Friday (April 5). These filings asked a federal judge to allow the artist to remain on supervised release rather than face going back to prison.
It was in late March that a federal probation officer requested that Dorsey be arrested because he failed to obtain clearance to perform at a concert in Las Vegas, NV, alongside Boosie on February 8.
The same probation officer also asserted that the Cash Money veteran never received proper permission to release the Gucci Mane collaboration Choppers & Bricks in December.
B.G. is accused of violating his probation through the performance as he is not allowed to associate with other convicted felons as part of his probation. Like Boosie Badazz, Gucci is also a convicted felon.
According to a report in The Guardian, the recent filing asserted that “Dorsey had gotten the proper permission for all his work from those monitoring him at the halfway house before he had been put on supervised release under the watch of a probation officer.”
The report went on to add that prosecutors admitted that he “was granted authority … to perform in some of these instances” during hearing that happened shortly after the rapper’s arrest in Las Vegas. They blamed the accusation surrounding permission to participate in the December performance on a “communication lapse.”
BG’s attorneys Billy Gibbens and David Chesnoff reiterated that the halfway house had given him permission to have contact with both artists before he moved out and was put on supervised release.
The MCs attorneys aren’t the only ones crying foul.
Earlier this week, Boosie Badazz himself criticized the Hot Boys rapper’s arrest following their concert.
The “Wipe Me Down” MC laid into the authorities for their treatment of the New Orleans rapper, who was only released from prison in September after more than a decade behind bars.
Speaking on Instagram Live, Boosie said: “I need all my supporters, all rap supporters to get behind and try to stop what’s going on with B.G. These people trying to lock B.G. up for rapping, bro.
“Say he put an album out with Gucci, saying he not supposed to put music out, saying he did a concert with me that he was allowed to do. They trying to lock this man up for rapping. Say he can’t put music out on Spotify.”
