The Aftershock music festival arrives in Sacramento on Thursday, bringing more than 100 bands to Discovery Park over four days. The festival — billed as the largest rock festival of its kind in California — provides an array of all forms of metal music — including rock, heavy metal, punk, hardcore and nu metal. Headliners include Avenged Sevenfold, Tool, Korn and Guns N’ Roses. The festival set a record last year with more than 160,000 fans, which brought in nearly $30 million to the Sacramento region. More than 65% of attendees don’t live in the region, with music fans coming from all 50 states and 35 countries, organizers said. “I mean, this is the West Coast’s biggest rock festival. We’ve been doing this for over a decade, and I mean it’s grown from a one-day event to four days, 40,000 people a day,” said Chamie McCurry, CMO of Danny Wimmer Presents. Doors open at noon on Thursday and the last act ends at 11 p.m. on Sunday night. There are still some tickets available here. Two additions to the lineup on Thursday to see are Kentucky classic rock-style band White Reaper, and Britain’s Nothing But Thieves, a critically acclaimed Indie Rock band that has a growing international presence. Here’s more to know about this year’s event.
