NEW ORLEANS (press release) – March is recognized as National Women’s History Month and one mother-daughter duo are committed to teaching other women and girls the importance of self-care. Dr. Toscha L. Dickerson, a Grambling State University and Southern University and A&M College alumna, is a distinguished CEO, author and leader in women’s empowerment. Dickerson, along with her 12-year old daughter Kaleigh, is proud to announce the 2nd annual Big Easy Retreat set to take place in New Orleans during the Essence Festival Weekend.

This unique retreat will occur on Saturday, July 6, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Hotel Monteleone, 214 Royal St. It’s a one-day experience that will unite sisters from all over the world to come together and embrace one another in an authentic sisterhood. Women will learn to focus on their total well-being – mind, body and soul.

This year’s theme is “The Power of Transformation.” The retreat promises a range of activities and sessions focused on self-care, personal transformation, and purpose-finding. It aims to provide a platform for women to rejuvenate and transform into the person they aspire to be.

“The Big Easy Retreat is designed for women to immerse themselves in a supportive and inspiring environment, surrounded by like-minded individuals who are also on a journey of transformation,” said Dr. Toscha L. Dickerson. “My purpose is to inspire and teach women to discover the power that lives within them.”

The retreat also features a special component for teenage girls 12-17, promoting entrepreneurship, and self-care, along with inspiration and encouragement. The theme for the teen session is “Unleash Your Inner Glow: Your Journey to Self-Love and Confidence Starts Here.”

“Teen girls are never too young to strive to be a better version of themselves,” said Kaleigh Dickerson. “Self-love and confidence are superpowers. Once you start to believe in yourself, you become a force to be reckoned with.”

The 2nd annual women’s retreat will offer workshops, networking opportunities, and inspirational sessions. For more information and to register, please visit www.thebigeasyretreat.com.

National Women’s History Month in March annually encourages us to honor the women who came before us and fought for equality among all races and genders. While America is full of influential women today, hundreds of women came before them, paving the way. Women’s History Month serves as a way to not only remember them but keep carrying their torch onward. There’s still work to do. During the month, International Women’s Day also celebrates the achievements of women from the past and present.
