Kenneth Force, standard-bearer of military music, dies at 83

Kenneth Force, who became a standard-bearer of military pageantry during nearly half a century as director of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Regimental Band, a mainstay of ceremonies and celebrations including the president’s inaugural parade, died Oct. 7 at a nursing facility in Rye, N.Y.
