Paralympic champion returns to alma mater to share inspiring story

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – On Wednesday, college students at Shawnee Heights received the chance to listen to from a six-time Paralympian and Navy Seal, who occurs to even be a SHHS alum.

Dan Cnossen, a Topeka native, graduated from Shawnee Heights in 1998. After highschool, he attended the U.S. Naval Academy and have become a Seal after he graduated from the Academy in 2002.

Cnossen misplaced his legs in 2009 when he stepped on an improvised explosive gadget (IED) throughout a mission. He has since been awarded the Purple Coronary heart and a Bronze Star with Valor.
